Farmers Protest on its Peak

A great quake in farmers’ lives on September 27, 2020 when Indian Government BJP, the ruling party under PM Narindera Modi, passed three agriculture Bills. As mentioned below:

  • The Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce Ordinance, 2020 allows intra-state and inter-state trade of farmers’ produce beyond the physical premises of APMC markets. There is prohibition on State governments from imposing any market fee, cess or levy outside APMC areas.
  • A framework  created by The Farmers Agreement Ordinance, for agreement farming through an agreement between a farmer and a buyer prior to the production or rearing of any farm produce. The conciliation board, SubDivisional Magistrate and Appellate Authority, it provides for a three level dispute settlement mechanism
  • The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Ordinance, 2020 allows the central government to regulate the supply of certain food items only under extraordinary circumstances (such as war and famine). Stock limits may be imposed on agricultural produce only if there is an abrupt price rise.

It is awful that the procedure of pass these bills are very shocking like, there was pandemic period and government passed these bills in so hurry because they knows no one can protest in this period and second is all CCTV are shutted off when these bills were going to pass, it means government didn’t want that people know about this, most important is when oppositions were saying for division regard these acts, but government don’t do this and passed these bills in full urgency. As per government these are in favor of farmers, but farmers of all India specially Punjab’s farmers do not agree with it, according to farmers these bills are in favor of big corporations and now all other opposition political parties also saying these bills are “anti-farmer”.

Is it Democracy?

When Indian Government doesn’t listen to the voice of farmers then farmers choose the path of protest. It is the first time so big a protest of so many people or gathering occurred, in these decades. All Punjabi farmer’s Unions (Jathebandis) jams the traffic, especially trains in Punjab only at first, but the government doesn’t care, then farmers decide to march on the capital (Delhi). It is also shocking the neighboring state Haryana, where is also ruling the BJP as center, made so many hitches in the way like digging the national way, big berigates, applying the army on national civilians and most shameful was watershots on farmers in the winter season. It looks like there is no democratic party ruling in India.

Even with so many hitches many farmers crossed the Haryana state and entered the capital, Delhi, where farmers of all India reached after Punjabi farmers. Farmers of other states saying, they were encouraged by the Punjabi farmers. But the atrocities of the government did not stop there, the police and the army trying to stop farmers there also. See the kindness of Punjabi farmers, they serve food(Langar) to police who beat them all day.

Now Punjabi Awarded personalities decided to return their National Awards to Government, this is a big slap on the Indian political system. There are more ways and next steps of agitation in Union’s list, if the Government doesn’t agree with them.

After all, Governments agree for discussion, but BJP, the ruling party, says for amendments. Other side farmers are saying to return these all new bills.

Nowadays the circle of discussion meeting has started. Both sides explain their conditions, but these talks are not  going to end.

This issue spread in the whole world and counters are coming from all countries. All counters are in favor of the farmers. First of all Canada PM Justin Trudeau speaks on this issue and many countries after Canada.

Now it seems to Indian people they are under the dictatorship of the ruling party or PM Narendra Modi because many acts of his realize this previously. All sectors, giving their opinion by social media like in Bollywood its very sensitive

It seems the farmers are unwavering in their decision to return the bills and the government is shivering by their stand. Farmer unions are prepared for a long run of protest and sure on their stand. Meetings are going on, let’s see what will be the result?
